I did an interview about The Piercing Bible with Cloud from The Pierced Consumer. Here is her introduction to it:
Just Get It! Let me introduce you to the best reference a pierced consumer could have: The Piercing Bible, a book by Elayne Angel. There’s nothing else like it out there, and no one but Angel could have written this book. I know she has worked very hard on it, and I am bursting with pride for her. It’s a fantastic book for everyone interested in body piercing, and I do urge everyone to pick up a copy. In the interest of disclosure, I had a small part in the conceptualization of the project. I knew we needed a book like this, and I’m so excited to finally have it. I’m not going to do a “review,” because I can’t be unbiased, although I plan at least one more blog post on the book, more content-related. For right now, allow me to introduce Ms. Elayne Angel, piercer, author, a pivotal figure in modern body piercing, and not the least to me, my friend. To read the whole interview, go here.

Wow! I just got THE most complimentary email about my writing. Oddly enough, it was sent by someone who didn't even know I'd written a book. He definitely knew that I write for the body art industry trade publication, Pain Magazine, because he works there! He wrote to comment on one of my articles:
Hi Elayne: I’m writing this short email to just let you know that I loved your column in the April issue. Well, you could have knocked me over when I read your April column – this was one of the best pieces of writing I have read in any magazine for a long time. of PAIN Magazine. I come from the world of book publishing (Random House, Abrams to name two), but since moving to New Mexico four years ago I have entered the magazine world (previous to this Head Quest, PAIN, and Aura position I was with Mothering Magazine); and, being very new to PAIN Magazine, I try to pick up copies and read them whenever I have time. And so, in addition to being informative (you have helped educate me on one of the aspects of piercing with which I was not knowledgeable) , it was immensely entertaining. I thank you for that. Now, I will find some back issues, and look forward to your new column in the upcoming PAIN. It is always a treat to find someone whose writing is worth reading. And I wanted to tell you that. All the best, Mark

Today I got an email from a fellow overseas:
Hello- I realize this might be impossible to answer, but do you have any idea when orders for your book placed through Amazon.co.uk (as I am in the UK) might start shipping? I noticed on your blog they're shipping in the US. My order says "Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L." and could ship anytime between 2 weeks ago and 8th of June. I'm very much looking forward to it (hence the asking)! Cheers, clayBelow is my response: Hi Clay, Thanks for your interest and enthusiasm! I'm delighted by it. I don't know if you've seen that about 30% of the book is visible on Google books, here if you want to get a jump-start on reading parts of it. I do know that the people who pre-ordered the book from Amazon.com in the US received notices that the book wouldn't be shipping until June, and then they got their orders later that same week (in April)! You're right; I don't really know when it will be shipping from Amazon UK, as it is actually a different edition of the book that's being produced there, which I found out about from this page. The US version is being shipped now. If you want to order one, they do ship internationally. That's about all I can suggest for now. Are you able to access this Amazon.com page from your location? Thanks for the support, and I hope you enjoy it once you do receive it. Sincerely, Elayne

This post is from my friend Cloud's blog, The Pierced Consumer:
Today’s the day! April 1, 2009 [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="240" caption="The Piercing Bible on Amazon.com"][/caption] The Piercing Bible, by Elayne Angel, is now available for shipping at Amazon! Here is the link: The Piercing Bible on Amazon.com (pic above is copied from there.) This book will be the single greatest resource for piercees and piercers that I know of. Angel is one of the foremost professional piercers in the world, and her knowledge and expertise shine through all of the detailed information contained in the book. I’m proud to say I had a hand in creating the concept for this book, and I know all of you will get a lot out of it. I’ll do a review when I receive it, but it won’t be unbiased. I cannot tell you how excited I am! Just buy it! The Pierced Consumer.I wanted to reiterate what Cloud said about having a hand in creating the concept for the book. She did more than that. In fact, the book is dedicated to her!

This message came to my profile at the Tribalectic website:
hello elayne , my girlfriend has had three labia piercings , shortly after the first one she developed cervical cancer . the second one it seemed fine . but shortly after the third one the cancer returned and she had to have the rest of the cervix taken out . there is not much information on the internet concerning cancer and piercings . i did however found one site that claims that body piercing can cause cancer. their explanation was skin cells pushed into the skin and then get trapped and develop into cancer .everyone i have talked to says there has not been any studies done.do you believe it is possible to get cancer from a body piercing? thanks so much...jack...Below is my response: Jack, Thanks for your questions. No, I don't think it is possible for piercings to cause cancer. I've seen no apparent correlation to it in my many, many years in the industry (since the 1980s). This is what my book has to say about the subject including a quote from a doctor:
There is no medical evidence that piercings increase the risk of cancer. Kelly Shanahan, MD, chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Barton Memorial Hospital in Lake Tahoe, states, “I am aware of no evidence that nipple piercing increases the risk of breast cancer.”Further, there really isn't any physiological way to explain that cells from a labia piercing could affect the tissue of the cervix, which are completely different. I understand it is easier to have something (like a piercing, or anything) to blame, but it just isn't so. I wish your girlfriend all the best with her recovery. Sincerely, Angel

This book is not only informative but enjoyable to read as well. Elayne Angel has created a masterpiece work that brings the mystique of piercing to the masses. No matter if you are a serious body modification devotee or a single mother deciding on a getting a first piercing you will enjoy this book. It is an approachable, candid, and friendly source for all a piercee should know before stepping foot into a studio.

I've heard from several friends who have ordered The Piercing Bible from Amazon.com: they've received notices that their orders have been shipped out! So, if you've already placed an order, check your mailbox. And if you haven't purchased one yet, now is a good time! Just click the Amazon.com link to place your order. Oh, and my last check of the stats showed that 83% of the people who viewed the item made the purchase! How exciting! I can't wait to get some more reviews. There's two brief ones on Google Books, where you can also preview the book (about 30 % of it is on there).

I'm SO excited! Guess what I've got? Finally: a copy of The Piercing Bible. For the first time, I've been able to see, hold, and read a finished copy of the book--just like the one you'll get when you place an order. It looks GREAT! The format looks a little bigger than I imagined it, and the color on the cover is tinged with a tad of purple (though I'll admit that I lobbied for a more punchy purple color). I opened the box and lifted the book--hefted it really, to feel its pleasant and considerable weight. Smiling, I took a look at the front and back covers, then thumbed through the whole thing and heard the sound of the paper, as I took a big whiff of the fresh paper and ink. I did everything but lick the thing; I wanted (needed, even) to experience my book with every possible sense I have. What a delight! I also got another mini pre-review from one of the reviewers:
