Well, who doesn't like to get fan mail? And sharing it is even more fun! So, I decided I'd post some here.

Elayne, I just wanted to let you know how excited I was to have you do my ampallang yesterday. I have got so much out of your book as well as getting a feel for the person you are, someone quite intelligent, passionate and dedicated to her craft.

Upon meeting you it's easy to see that you are all of that and a lot more. I love the piercing, I think it looks totally 'hot'. I haven't been able to stop looking at it!! And your placement was 'exactly' where I wanted it. It has been bleeding just a bit but otherwise it feels fine. I could not believe that it didn't hurt nearly as bad as what I was anticipating, but I can imagine that having this piercing done with someone not as skilled could indeed make it much more traumatic. Thank you again!!!! Mike

I got THE most complimentary email about my writing. Oddly enough, it was sent by someone who didn't even know I'd written a book. He definitely knew that I write for the body art industry trade publication, Pain Magazine, because he works there! He wrote to comment on one of my articles:

Hi Elayne: I’m writing this short email to just let you know that I loved your column in the April issue. Well, you could have knocked me over when I read your April column – this was one of the best pieces of writing I have read in any magazine for a long time. And to find it in PAIN Magazine of all places!
I come from the world of book publishing (Random House, Abrams to name two), but since moving to New Mexico four years ago I have entered the magazine world (previous to this Head Quest, PAIN, and Aura position I was with Mothering Magazine); and, being very new to PAIN Magazine, I try to pick up copies and read them whenever I have time. And so, in addition to being informative (you have helped educate me on one of the aspects of piercing with which I was not knowledgeable), it was immensely entertaining. I thank you for that. Now, I will find some back issues, and look forward to your new column in the upcoming PAIN. It is always a treat to find someone whose writing is worth reading. And I wanted to tell you that. All the best, Mark

i just wanted to say you were great at APP Conference elayne. i was so stoked to go this year and it was all because of you. i look up to you in so many ways and i just want to say thank you for everything you have done for this industry and what you continue to bring to it. i strive to be like you and have the extensive knowledge you have, as corny as that may sound. hopefully next year ill have the nerve to actually go up to you and say hi. haha. have a great day. samantha

My name is Alyssa and I'm a piercer from Toledo, OH.  I first heard of you during my apprenticeship; my mentor insisted I read your Pain Magazine articles to familiarize myself with commonly asked questions and your after-care instructions.  This might seem a bit weird and perhaps unorthodox, but you are truly an inspiration to me! I hope that after I'm in this business for as long as you are I could help and inspire someone the way you have for me! Alyssa

Elayne, I love you! I've been in your periphery for many years and I have *never* seen or heard the faintest unpleasant whisper about you. That alone is admirable, but then you have to go and be a skilled, caring and intuitive facilitator for all us perverts. You've earned your wings ten times over! D'Arcy

This one just about made me blush today. It was so nice that this woman took the time to write to me:

Hi Elayne, I have been thinking about your upcoming book release and the signing.  How exciting!  I have tried to imagine how I would feel in your shoes.  I am so pleased for you and so proud for you. As a businesswoman in this world which is not always kind, you have made big headway. I own a small company and know what a hard boss I have!   You have really excelled in your career even before this book of course.  I think you should  give yourself a big pat on the back for your accomplishments! This is starting to sound like cheerleading - lol!  Anyway, I think it is great that you have new things going on in your life.  I do plan to purchase your book and I am sure that I will learn so much from it. Have a great time at the signing and at the piercing convention.  It's the other side of the States for me so I will not be attending but I will be sending you good thoughts! Best, Dawn
