I received a message from a piercee who had a question about his Prince Albert (male genital) piercing. Here is our exchange of correspondence:

 Hi I wonder if you could help me please. I got a PA done about 6 months ago and I think that it maybe moving up rather than staying in place. I changed to a smaller diameter of ring without a ball a few months ago and it seemed to be better. Its 2.4mm thickness. I'm also conserned about the lack of tissue that seems to be holding it in. I've had bad experienced with peircing before and I'd rather not take this out! Thanks, Jon

Hi Jon,

How much tissue is there between the end of your urethra (where the jewelry rests) and the placement of the piercing? If it is too narrow, that can cause migration. And once migration starts, it can be hard to stop it.

Thanks for getting back to me. I think theres around 1.5cm between the piercing and the urethra. But it moves quite far over if you know what i mean so its less than that sometimes. Im worried about having sex with it in incase it comes through. I'll try and send some photos.

Yes, please send a photo or two. That doesn't sound like very much tissue. Does it seem that there is less and less tissue between the piercing and the edge of your urethra, or does it seem stable?

I received a message from a piercer seeking advice about male genital piercings:

A client came in a few days ago and asked me if it was possible to do a vertical frenum ladder instead of a traditional one. I wasn't too sure so I told him I would research and find out for sure before I would attempt it. I know this is one thing you are very well known for and your answer would be the one I would go by. Also if any of the healing or after care is any different than a traditional frenum ladder or other possible complications please let me know all you can. Thank you so much!!

Hi Jenny,

One of the important considerations is whether the tissue is pliable in the area he'd like to have pierced. You may want to start with just one piercing, rather than a ladder, to see how he heals. Also, the success of this would depend, to some extent, on his size differential between flaccid and erect states. On frenums that go in the usual direction, they can rest somewhat bunched up and close together without it causing any trauma. Then, when the piercee is erect, there is more space between the jewelry.

I ran into this story online of a Prince Albert piercing I did for a client when I was in San Francisco:

Finally got it done. I'm a little over fifty years of age and got it done. I first convinced my wife to get a VCH but then she wanted to get her actual clit pierced and a triangle piercing. She got her VCH about a month prior to getting her clit and triangle done and then I told her I would do a PA. She said it was ok with her. I'll let her write her own story since this is mine. I had bought the Piercing Bible and we read all we could with the type of piercings that we wanted to do.

We saw Elayne Angel in San Francisco and got pierced at Cold Steel Elayne asked me to send her some photo's first to see if I was suitable for a PA since I am uncircumsized. She said I was so I got an appointment with her. I undressed and the little fellow got even smaller just thinking about getting the head of my dick pierced. I had read that getting the recieving tube placed down the uretha was a pain, but when she placed the recieving tube in me it was no big deal as a matter of fact I enjoyed it. Then it was time for the actual piercing and the needle looked like the end of a shotgun, but with a little sting it was done. Again no big deal and just a little blood for the next couple of days.

I started with a 10ga but have since gone to a 6ga and I plan on going to a 0ga or a 00ga. I really enjoy it and the sex is great. I did jack off after the fourth day (with the wife watching) and had some blood in the cum. Waited a week more before we had sex and what an experience. I plan on getting an apradavya and a frenum ladder in the near future. There wasn't any pain with this type of piercing and if you are thinking about it I would suggest that you go for it.

This past week I had the honor of visiting Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut to provide a lecture on Erotic Piercings for their Sex Week event. I gave an hour and a half talk to an attentive audience that consisted primarily of students (and a few professors as well!). My lecture was supported by abundant visuals (150 slides) throughout a PowerPoint presentation created especially for this event.

The focus of the class was genital piercings for both men and women, though I also covered the erotic possibilities of oral and nipple piercings, and emphasized the importance of seeking a highly qualified piercer. Graphic images of botched piercings drove that point home. I received a lot of positive feedback from members of the audience, several of whom reported that they were now considering getting genital piercings for themselves!
