I spent a fantastic day yesterday piercing at Anomaly Body Piercing in Pasadena, CA. It was a blast, and everyone was really great. My first appointment of the day (and the first piercing I performed in several months!) was a 10 gauge ampallang. It went very smoothly, and this is an email I just received from the piercee:

Elayne, I just wanted to let you know how excited I was to have you do my ampallang yesterday. I have got so much out of your book as well as getting a feel for the person you are, someone quite intelligent, passionate and dedicated to her craft. Upon meeting you it's easy to see that you are all of that and a lot more. I love the piercing, I think it looks totally 'hot'. I haven't been able to stop looking at it!! And your placement was 'exactly' where I wanted it. It has been bleeding just a bit but otherwise it feels fine. I could not believe that it didn't hurt nearly as bad as what I was anticipating, but I can imagine that having this piercing done with someone not as skilled could indeed make it much more traumatic. Thank you again!!!! Mike

I Just wanted to say that I love your book! I received a copy from Amazon.com a couple weeks ago and have gone through it cover to cover. I am relatively new to the piercing thing (2008 was my first piercing) but it has really been something I've found to be so totally liberating even at this point in my life, I am 58. I love the way you write, it is so thorough in its coverage of every aspect with just enough subtle humor thrown in to keep it light and refreshing to read. I found it very informative with it's coverage of aftercare and also on one of the piercings I am considering. I am also totally thankful for your recommendation for the emu oil. I have been using it on my piercings every day for about a month now and I can't believe the effect it has had. I live in Southern Calif. and have had Eric 'Sque3ze' Anderson as my piercer at his shop 'Anomaly' in Pasadena. I feel fortunate to have found someone so knowledgeable and professional. In fact I just called and talked to him today about the possibility of getting an amphallang (I'm still in fact a bit hesitant about it and just trying to get a lot of feedback on it). I was impressed to see him mentioned in your book. Anyway I just wanted to say how much I loved your book and that I find you to be one 'awesome' lady.

This lovely comment was made (along with some very apt criticism of the medical and pharmaceutical industries) on my posting about emu oil.

Elayne, I love you! I've been in your periphery for many years and I have *never* seen or heard the faintest unpleasant whisper about you. That alone is admirable, but then you have to go and be a skilled, caring and intuitive facilitator for all us perverts. You've earned your wings ten times over! D'Arcy

This one just about made me blush today. It was so nice that this woman took the time to write to me:

Hi Elayne, I have been thinking about your upcoming book release and the signing.  How exciting!  I have tried to imagine how I would feel in your shoes.  I am so pleased for you and so proud for you. As a businesswoman in this world which is not always kind, you have made big headway. I own a small company and know what a hard boss I have!   You have really excelled in your career even before this book of course.  I think you should  give yourself a big pat on the back for your accomplishments! This is starting to sound like cheerleading - lol!  Anyway, I think it is great that you have new things going on in your life.  I do plan to purchase your book and I am sure that I will learn so much from it. Have a great time at the signing and at the piercing convention.  It's the other side of the States for me so I will not be attending but I will be sending you good thoughts! Best, Dawn

I just received some email from a woman who watched some videos of me performing piercings from here:

Hi Elayne, I found a few videos that I needed to watch! I purchased the nipple piercing and the triangle piercing and enjoyed them very much. They are very honest and informative. I think that if a person with no piercings wanted to learn, they would see a correct representation of the process. For a person who already has piercings, there is plenty of great advice!

So, my videos are worth seeing, and they have something for you, whether you're new to piercings or already have some.

Elayne is also an excellent lecturer on business and marketing trends. She was a regular lecturer for my MBA classes at the University of Phoenix and many students stated she was the most inspirational, knowledgeable and professional speaker they had ever heard (this is coming from mid-to upper level managers in corporations who are returning to school for a part-time program) and alumni often ask me about her.

That's right--I remember he would bring his MBA students by my piercing studio in the French Quarter for me to lecture them. They always looked a little confused at first, but they were good audiences once I got to speaking with them.
